NEWTON, Ivery Ogden WWI Ivery was born in 1888 in Quebec. He enlisted with the Army and served with the Fort Garry Horse Regiment in England and France. Sergeant Newton led a small group in advance to take a hill in France; he was one of few soldiers to return and was awarded the Military Medal for his leadership and efforts. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #136. Ivery passed away in 1971. NICHOLSON, Ernest WWI Ernest was born in 1886 in England. He enlisted with the Army during WWI and served in Canada and England. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch for 53 years. Ernest passed away in 1971. NICHOLSON, Robert WWII Robert was born in 1920 in Abernethy, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with the 405th Pathfinders. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Calgary Branch for 45 years. Robert passed away in 2003. NICOL, Robert Ainsley WWII Ainsley was born in 1919 in Whitewood, SK. He enlisted with the Army in February of 1941 and joined the 44th Field Battery, R.C.A, part of the 13th Field Regiment. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge in 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. He was a life member The Royal Canadian Legion Whitewood Branch #87 for 55 years. Ainsley passed away in 2004. NIELSEN, Karen WWII Karen was born in November of 1924 in Denmark. She came with her parents to the Megan area in 1926. She enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on July 15, 1943. She served as a Wireless Operator in Canada until her discharge in February of 1945.
