BAZIUK, Harry WWII Harry attended the Lysenko school. He worked for the C.P.R. gang in 1941 covering the area from Orcadia to Colonsay, SK. He enlisted with the Army in 1942 and served in Canada, North Pacific and the Aleutians until his discharge in 1946. He started a farm six miles south of Sheho, SK. Harry joined the Sheho Legion Branch and served as President for three years. Presently he is farming three quarters of land and has a good herd of beef cattle. BEARDEN, J. Ernie WWII Ernie was born in 1908 in Abernethy, SK. He enlisted with the Army Postal Corps in 1940 and served in England until his discharge in 1945. After his discharge he returned to his Postal Service Job in Regina. He was an active member of the Regina Legion until his retired to Kelowna in 1973 where transferred The Royal Canadian Legion Kelowna Branch and was a member for 12 years. Ernie passed away in 1985. BEARDEN, Leslie Ross WWI Leslie was born in 1897 in Abernethy, N.W.T. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army and served with the 1st Depot Battalion, Saskatchewan Regiment in Canada. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch # 26 for 3 years. Leslie passed away in 1961. BEARDEN, Robert L Peacetime Robert was born on August 19, 1936 in Balcarres, SK. He joined the Peacetime Royal Canadian Air Force in December of 1954 and after training, was stationed with the 405 Squadron Maritime Air Command at Greenwood, N.S. and remained there until 1961. He was then transferred to the Pinetree warning system at Barrington, N.S. In 1964 he was transferred to the RCAF Station in Kamloops, B.C. and served in Canada until his release in June of 1965. After his release he worked for the C.N.R. until his retirement in 2001. Robert is a member of the Abernethy Legion Branch where he is currently the President and Service Officer. BEATTIE, David Thomas Pattie WWII David was born on June 14, 1919 near Dinsmore, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in Saskatoon, SK. He was posted to the #403 Squadron in Essex working as an Armor Assistant. He also spent some time with the #402 Spitfire Squadron until it went to Africa. He was then posted at the Air Force Base in Wick, Scotland. His final posting was at RCAF Station Topcliffe in Yorkshire with the #1659 Conversion Squadron. He served in Canada and England until his discharge on March 5, 1945. He married Elsie Fish on August 26th, 1944 in Tottington, Lancashire. After his discharge they returned to his dadʼs farm and raised 3 girls until they retired. David is retired and currently resides in Outlook, SK.
