MERRITT, Arthur WWI Arthur enlisted with the 226th Battalion on January 16, 1916. He served in France and Belgium until his discharge on February 28, 1917 due to bullet wounds. He married Lizzie Everesh and they had 2 children. Lizzie passed away and he later remarried in 1927 Winifred Neal. They made their home in Sheho where Arthur farmed and became the postmaster. Arthur passed away on July 4, 1961. MERRITT, Thomas Edward WWII Thomas enlisted with the R.C.A.S.C. on January 9, 1940. He served in Canada, U.S.A., and the Mediterranean area until his discharge with the rank of L/CP. After the war he married Christine in 1949 and they had four children. They lived in Sheho for about 15 years and Thomas was the Post Master. He joined the Sheho Legion in 1950 and served as secretary Treasurer for 16 years. Thomas passed away on April 6, 1973. MESZAROS, Emily Papp WWII Emily was born on August 14, 1921 in Hungary. She served with the Canadian Womenʼs Army Corps during WWII. She was trained as an Ambulance driver and she drove the huge lumbering ones that held three beds on each side. She also transported officers to wherever they needed to go, she loved every minute of it. Emily is a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #87. MEYER, Clayton WWII Clayton was born on January 23, 1914 in Dilke, SK. He came with his parents to the Jordan River area in 1934. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on May 22, 1943. He served as an Aero Engine Mechanic in Canada until his discharge in 1946. After the war he became a partner in Bradshawʼs Garage and later owned his own garage. In 1954 he accepted a position with the Federal Government in Ottawa. Clayton passed away in 1961. MICHALUK, Alex WWII Alex was born in Sheho, SK. In March of 1943, he was called to the Canadian Army and was posted to Lorne Scots and served in Canada until his discharge in November of 1945. Upon his discharge he settled and lives on the farm south of Tuffnell. He is married and they have one son. The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 225
