MEDWID, Andrew WWII Andrew enlisted with the R.C.A. in the spring of 1942. He completed his basic training in Regina and was then sent overseas where he spent time in England training and awaiting for D-Day. He served in England, France, Germany, and Canada until his discharge on February 9, 1946. He began his teaching career on February 13, 1946, which lasted 37 years until he retired in June of 1980. Andrew and his wife Marie currently reside in Regina, SK. MEDWID, Carl WWII Carl enlisted with the Canadian Army in April of 1941 and was sent to Kingston signal Corps. From there he was sent to Ottawa, where he joined a new special wireless unit. In December of 1941 he was sent to Vancouver, BC to Point Grey. In June of 1942 he was sent to Victoria as Number 3 special wireless where his unit worked on decoding the Japanese Code. He was discharged in December of 1945 with the rank of Sergeant. Carl currently resides in Shelborne, Ontario. MEEKS, John WWI & WWII John served overseas during WWI. He married Nellie, an English war bride in late 1919 and came to the area. He enlisted with the Army on January 12, 1943. He served with the Queenʼs Own Cameron Highlanders as a Sniper in Canada, England, France, Belgium, and Holland where he was wounded on October 1, 1944. He received his discharge in March of 1945. MEEKS, Wallace WWI Wallace enlisted with the Army and served overseas during WWI. He married Nellie, an English war bride in 1919 and they later returned to Arborfield. They had one daughter and 2 adoptive children. No Photo MELNECHENKO, William John WWII William enlisted with the Canadian Army Active on October 2, 1942. He was wounded on July 25th, 1944 and he was taken as a POW on October 11th, 1944. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until his discharge on October 23, 1945. He was awarded the C.U.S. Medal and Clasp, Defense Medal, 1939-45 Star, and the France and Germany Star. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Vancouver and then in Regina.
