McDERMID, Ken WWII Kenʼs family moved to the Arborfield area in 1929. He enlisted with the R.C.A. on January 22, 1942. He served in Canada until his discharge in August of 1942. After the war, he married and he and his wife moved to Alberta where they raised a family of 7 children. McDONALD, Cecil David WWII Cecil was born on May 26, 1921 near Lacadena, SK. He enlisted with the Regina Rifles in 1942, and was transferred to the PEI Highlanders. He served in Canada, Alaska, the United Kingdom, and Europe. Cecil was wounded in action, returned to active duty, and was later a prisoner of war for two months in Germany. Cecil received the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star and the Defense Medal. He married in July 1953 to Catherine and raised a family in Lacadena and Elrose, Sask. Cecil passed away on April 2, 1976. McDONALD, Grant WWII Grant was born on September 6, 1921 in Regina, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on December 5, 1941. He served as a Mechanic in Canada, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until his discharge on October 23, 1945. After the war he returned to the University of BC and became an Electrical Engineer. McDONALD, James WWI James was born on January 10, 1897 in Regina, SK. He enlisted with the 5th Canadian Infantry during WWI and served for 3 years, half in Canada and half in the trenches of France where he was gassed. He was honoured for his bravery. He returned home and recovered and then enlisted in the First Texas Calvary in El Paso. He came to the Arborfield area in 1925 to farm. He was a Charter Member of The Royal Canadian Legion Arborfield Branch #203. James passed away on January 21, 1985. McDOUGAL, Alexander Joseph WWII Alexander was born in 1904 in London, Ontario. He joined the Military Medical Corps when the war broke out and served in Canada and England until his discharge as Major. He received the Canadian Volunteer Medal, and the 1939-45 War Medal.
