BARANIUK, Jack WWII Jack was born in the Sheho District, SK. He attended the country school Olesksense and he helped with his fatherʼs farm in his early years. He got into the Army under the National Resources Mobilization Act of 1940 (N.R.M.A.) in May of 1941. He served with the R.C.A.S.C. in Canada until his discharge in October of 1946. He married Martha in 1946 and they have one daughter, Elizabeth. Jack passed away in 1976 in Sheho and is buried in St. Peterʼs Ukrainian Catholic family plot cemetery. BARKWAY, Alfred Jack WWI & WWII Alfred was born on April 20, 1897 in Dereham, England. He came to Canada with his parents when he was 12 and they settled in the farming community around Shellbrook. He joined the 15th Reserved Battalion, SK Regiment on May 9, 1918. He served in England until his discharge on March 5, 1920. He enlisted with the R.C.E. on August 1, 1941 and served in England until his discharge. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Shellbrook Branch. Alfred passed in Saskatoon, SK, on November 20, 1951 at the age of 54. BARNEY, Daniel WWII Daniel was born in October of 1926. He enlisted with the Prince Albert Volunteers on October 6, 1944. He served in Canada until his discharge on November 29, 1945. After the war he married and raised a family in Arborfield. Daniel passed away on June 30, 2001. BARTON, Archibald Robert WWII Archie was born on April 8, 1908 in Davidson, SK. He taught for several years in the Loverna area and later in the Pierceland district. In 1940, he joined the 16/22 Sask. Horse Regiment and served overseas where he was transferred to the Postal Corps. He was discharged in 1945 and joined The Royal Canadian Legion soon after. He continued teaching until 1974. Archie was a member of the Legion for 47 years, before he passed away in November of 1992. BASEY, John William WWII John was born on July 4, 1917 in Hubbard, SK. He enlisted with the Army on January 5, 1942. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Central Mediterranean, and Continental Europe. He received the following Medals: 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France & Germany Star, The Defense Medal, 1939-45 Voluntary Service Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Abernethy Branch.
