LECKIE, Norman Abraham WWII Norman enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in November of 1940. He arrived overseas in November of 1941 and after some operational training at Londonderry in Northern Ireland and Northern Scotland he was posted to Canadian Squadron 407, known as the “Demon” squadron on April 1st, 1942. Flight Sergeant Wireless Operator Airgunner Leckie went missing on his second mission in a Hudson Aircraft on the morning of April 6, 1942 over the Island of Sylt, just off the Norwegian Coast. LEE, Archie E. WWII Archie was born in Houghton County. He joined the Canadian Army Active in Lloydminister on October 30, 1941. He served in Canada, England and Italy, until he was wounded and sent back to Canada. He was discharged as Private in June of 1945. He was a charter member of the Sheho Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion and was the 1st member to hold Secretaryʼs office. He has five children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Archie is currently retired and resides in Saskatoon, SK. LEE, Earl WWI Earl was an Irish man who came from Ontario in 1925. He enlisted with the Canadian Armed Forces during WWI and served overseas until his discharge. He came to the Megan area and took up his soldierʼs grant homestead. Earl is deceased. No Photo LeGRAND, LeRoy “Roy” WWII Roy was born in 1914 in Chicago. He came with his parents to settle near Tisdale in 1925. He filed for a homestead in 1936 in the Megan area and moved there in 1939. He enlisted with the Army on February 11, 1943. He served with the Queenʼs Own Cameron Highlanders Scout Platoon in Canada, England, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. He was wounded in France and again in Germany. He was awarded the Military Medal on April 26, 1945 and received his discharge on January 9, 1947. He married Margaret Oliphant in 1947. Roy passed away on August 27, 2005. LEIB, Sigfreid WWII Sigfreid was born on May 30, 1923 near Craven, SK. He moved with his parents to Moosedale in 1932. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps on November 29, 1941 and served in Canada until his discharge on May 9, 1945. After the war he returned to Moosedale and was married.
