LʼARRIVEE, Alfred “Fred” WWII Fred was born in 1906 in Bainville, Montana, U.S.A. He came with his family to the Arborfield area in 1929 to homestead. He enlisted with the Saskatchewan Horse Regiment on May 6, 1942. He was transferred to the Railway Corps and served as a Diesel Engineer in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany until his discharge on January 25, 1946. He received the following medals: Stars of France and Germany, Defense Medal, King George, and the C.V.S.M. LʼARRIVEE, Edmour WWII Edmour was born on February 13, 1916 in Montana. He enlisted with the Army on July 26, 1941. He served with the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment as a Wireless Operator in Canada, England, Africa, Italy, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland until his discharge on January 12, 1946. He received the following medals: Stars of France, Germany, Italy, Defense Medal, C.V.S.M., King George, and the “Thank You Canada” Dutch Medal. Edmour is a Life Member of the Arborfield Legion with 62 years of service. He received his 60-year service pin in 2005. LA CLAIRE, Joseph Edward WWII Joseph was born on May 20, 1925 in Shellbrook, SK. He joined the R.C.A.F. 406 Squadron, 126 Wing in 1943 at the age of 18 and served in Canada, England, and Germany until 1946. He retained his interest in aviation and became a commercial lot, flying instructor and aircraft engineer. He trained private and commercial pilots on wheels, skis and floats in Central and Northern Sask. and Alberta, also giving training to several air cadets as well. After thousands of hours of flying he retired at the age of 75 and lives in Shellbrook, Sask. Joseph has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion since 1946. LACROIX, Regis WWII Regis was born on July 31, 1920 in Zenon Park, SK. He enlisted with the Army on July 3, 1942 and served as a Gunner in Canada until his discharge on April 3, 1944. After the war he returned home to farm. LAFONTAINE, Urgel WWI Urgel was born on January 10, 1897 in St-Jacques le Mineur, Quebec. He joined the Army during WWI and served with the Saskatchewan Regiment in England and France. He married Ida Pepin on January 10th, 1929 and raised six children. He farmed near Montmartre, Sask. for over 40yrs, then retired and moved to town in 1960. Urgel passed away on March 15, 1970. The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 179
