KOHUT, Joe WWII Joe was born on November 12, 1916 in Western Ukraine. He came to Canada with hi parents in 1923 and they settled on a farm in the Parkview District. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in March of 1941. He served in Canada and England until he was wounded and sent back home. He married his sweetheart Antoinette Klochan and they had 2 daughters and a son. After the war Joe and his family made their home in Ottawa. He was part owner of Spartan Air Services, an aerial survey company. A few years later he owned his own air survey company, Capital Air Surveys. KOLYBABA, Steve WWII Steve was born in Insinger, SK. He enlisted with the First Light Anti Aircraft Battery in September of 1939. After a short training period in Canada he sailed with his L.A.A. battery aboard a ship to England in 1940 where he continued training with his unit. He saw action in Switzerland in 1941, then Italy, France, Holland and Germany. He returned with his Battery to Canada and was discharged in July of 1945 when his L.A.A. Battery was disbanded. No Photo KOPPAN, Elwood G. WWII Elwood was born on January 18, 1924 in Shellbrook, SK. He enlisted with the South Saskatchewan Regiment in 1943 and served in Europe until his discharge in 1945. He then bought a farm through the Dept of Veterans Affairs. In 1952, his brother who farmed the home place died in a polio epidemic, so he sold his DVA farm and bought the home place. He lived a very active life retiring in 1989. Elwood has been a Legion member for over 50 years. KOROPATNISKI, Alex WWII Alex enlisted for wartime service on January 9, 1940. He served in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge on April 9, 1946. He enlisted for post-war service on December 31, 1947 as a career soldier. Alex served in the Middle East and Germany until his discharge on May 6, 1976. He received the Defense Medal, Italy, France and Germany Stars, 1939-45 Star, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, War Medal 1935-45, United Nations Emergency Force Medal, Canadian Forces Decoration & Clasps and Parachute Badge, and Oak Leaf. KORPATNICKI, William George WWII William was born on March 5, 1920 in Sheho, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery on December 2, 1941. He served in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe until his discharge on January 8, 1946. He was awarded the following: 1939-45 Star, France and Germany Star, Defense Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp.
