JOHNSON, Bernard Thomas WWII Bernard was born in 1923 in The Pas, Manitoba. He enlisted with the Army in January of 1942 and served with the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders in Canada, Continental Europe, and the United Kingdom. He received the 193945 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defense Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Bernard passed away in 1987. JOHNSON, Herbert “Bertie” WWII Bertie was born in 1919 in Wapella, SK. He enlisted with the R.C.A. in 1942 and joined the 12th Artillery. He served in northern France and was wounded in battle, losing his right leg. He had been very active over the years with the War Amputees of Canada. Bertie passed away in 2001. JOHNSTONE, Clifford WWII Clifford was born on May 11, 1914 in Montnebo, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Navy in 1939 and was called for duty in 1940. He started his training in Saskatoon and then was transferred to the Cornwallis Naval Base at Digby, N.S. He served on the High Seas as a motor mechanic in the engine rooms of the ships he was on until his discharge in 1945. He was given the Atlantic Star, the 1939-45 Star, the War Medal 1939-45, the CVSM 1939-45. Clifford passed away on January 1, 2001 in Shellbrook, Sask. JONES, W. Carle WWII Carle was born in 1913 in Quill Lake, SK. He joined the Army in 1942 where his group did some research on army equipment for use is cold weather and bad conditions. He served with the 6th Division in Canada and the Aleutian Islands where he was Sergeant in charge of small armies. Carle was a charter member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #362. JONES, Charlie WWI Charlie and his brother Herb came west from Ontario in 1912. He enlisted with the Army when the war broke out, and served with the Canadian Infantry Division overseas until his discharge.
