HUNDT, Anthony Joseph WWII Anthony was born in 1914 in Sidewood, SK. He enlisted with the Army at the start of the war. He served with the 16/22 Saskatchewan Horse Regiment in Canada and Europe. He was captured as a Prisoner of War and spent ten months in a POW camp where he and many other were forced to take part in the arduous death march, where he saw many of his comrades succumb to the torturous conditions of the march. Medals in Tonyʼs collection are: the Defense Medal, the France-Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star and a Voluntary Service Medal. Tony married Dolly Rheinhart in 1946. They had three girls and a boy. Anthony passed away in 1994. HUNDT, Arthur Simon WWII Arthur was born in 1920 in Sidewood, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army during WWII and served in Vernon, BC. Arthur passed away in 1988. HUNDT, Howard Francis WWII Howard was born in 1918 in Sidewood, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Army during WWII and served in England, France, and Continental Europe until his discharge. He received a Dispatch for distinguished Service - Kingsʼ Order. Howard passed away in 1982. IRELAND, Frederick Mervin WWII Merv was born on February 18, 1908 in London, England. He enlisted with the Air Force, #423 Squadron in 1941 He trained to be an airplane mechanic and served in Ireland. He served in Ireland until his discharge in 1945. He received a War Service badge “General Service Class”. His brother Leslie Gilbert Ireland was also in the Air Force. Merv passed away on November 3, 1979. JACKSON, Thomas WWII Thomas was born in Shelly, Yorkshire, England in 1921. He came to Canada in 1930 when he was 9 years old. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and was stationed with 120 B.R. Squadron in Vancouver. He was sent to England in 1943 and served with the 427 Squadron, #6 Bomber Group. He was discharged in October of 1945. After the war he was a farm machinery dealer for 54 years. Thomas is currently the President of the Coronach Branch #268 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
