HOLMES, Harry WWI Harry was born in 1874 in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England. He came to Canada in 1903 and settled in the Sheho area. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force, 68th Battalion O.S on July 7, 1915. He served in the 3rd C.E.R.B. in France and was discharged on April 4, 1919. On July 26th, 1936 Harry and his wife Lily and daughter Renee attended the unveiling of the Canadian National War Memorial in Vimy Ridge, France. He was a Life Member of the Regina Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion before he passed away in 1962. HOLMES, John Frederick “Jack” WWII Jack was born in Sheho, SK. He enlisted in the Army in January of 1940. He was a mechanic and an electrician and served in England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany until his discharge with the rank of Corporal on January 18, 1946. He received the Star of Italy, 1939-45 Star, Star of France and Germany and the Voluntary Medal. He married Winnifred Ballisch in England in 1945. They had 2 children. Jack passed away in March of 1986. HOOVER, Deane M. “Smoky” Special Duty Smoky was born in 1933 in Selkirk, Ontario. He joined the Air Force and served with 426 Squadron, 437 Squadron, Golden Hawks, 4(F) Wing Germany in Canada and NATO. He received the SSM, 125 yr Canada, the Queenʼs Golden Jubilee, CD & Bar, Sask. Centennial. Smokey has been a member of the Moose Jaw Legion Branch for 30 years. No Photo HORRICKS, Stanley Charles WWII Stanley was born on June 3, 1922 in Shellbrook, SK. He joined the Canadian Army Active in 1942, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom, Continental Europe, and the Mediterranean. He also served in England, the Azore Islands, Scotland, Ireland, the English Channel, North Africa, Bay of Biscay, the Rock of Gibraltar, Sicily, Italy, the Coast of Norway, Alaska, the Aleutians, Pacific, San Francisco, the Panama Canal, Balboa, Central America. The Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, the Atlantic and North and South Bermuda. In March of 1946 he was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, France-Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. Stanley passed away on December 14, 1980. HOUSTON, Vernon Allan WWII Vernon was born on August 4, 1924 in Eston, SK. He enlisted with the Regina Rifle Regiment and served in Holland and Germany.
