HILL, Don WWII Don was born on February 1, 1924 in Foam Lake, SK. He moved to Arborfield with his family in 1939. He enlisted with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles on May 26, 1943. He served as a Sniper in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was wounded in Holland in April of 1945 and was discharged on September 24, 1945. After the war he was married and he moved to Holman, AB where he was a mechanic in the mine. HILL, James William WWII James was born in December of 1916 in Saskatoon, SK. He was sworn into the Canadian Navy on September 27, 1943. After his initial training he was sent to Gaspe, QC where he taught the basics of boiler and related equipment to new recruits. He served in Canada and the Atlantic until his honourary discharge on November 10, 1945. He was awarded the 1939-45 Star Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. James passed away in April of 1995. HILL, Muriel WWII Muriel was born on September 25, 1922 in Foam Lake, SK. She moved to Arborfield in 1939 with her family. She enlisted with the Army on January 27, 1942. She served as a Stenographer in Canada until her discharge on June 14, 1945. She is a Charter Member of the Arborfield Ladies Auxiliary to the Legion. She married and they moved to Carrot River to raise their family and farm. HILL, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born on May 24, 1921 in Foam Lake, SK. He moved to Arborfield with his family in 1939. He enlisted with the R.C.N.V.R. on November 17, 1942. He served aboard HMCS Malpeque, a minesweeper, until his discharge on December 17, 1945. After the war he was married and did carpentry. Bill passed away on June 13, 1993. HINDMARCH, Gilman “Gil” WWII Gil came with his parents from Carlyle in 1934 to Moose Range. enlisted with the Army on July 15, 1942. He served in Canada until his discharge on September 3, 1942. Gil and his wife operated a Café in Arborfield, Snowden, and Nipawin. They later moved to Sarnia, ON.
