HERBEL, Lawrence WWII & Korean War Lawrence was born on February 15, 1926 in Rush Lake, SK. He enlisted with the Navy on October 3, 1944 and served until February 15, 1946 going from Regina to Cornwallis, NS and then to the west coast to take commando training, and then to Hong Kong and Kowloon. He served in Hong Kong and Kowloon. Lawrence passed away on August 22, 2004 and is sadly missed by his family and his wife. HERDMAN, Charles John Kent WWI Charles and his twin brother, Frederick, were born on July 20, 1894 in Toronto, Ontario. Both he and his twin enlisted with the Saskatchewan Regiment on April 10, 1916 in Regina. While serving on the Front Lines, he lost a hand. Charles passed away on May 18, 1953 and is buried at Wanakena Cemetery. HERDMAN, Frederick William WWI Frederick was born on July 20, 1894 along with his twin brother, Charles, in Toronto, Ontario. Both he and his twin brother enlisted with the Saskatchewan Regiment on April 10, 1916. Frederick was killed in action on September 16, 1918 and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery west of Arras, Pas-de-Calais, France. HERDMAN, Samuel Gordon WWI & WWII Samuel was born on April 19, 1892 in York County, Ontario. He served with the 84th Battalion overseas during WWI. His MM was presented by the Governor General at Queensʼ Park after the war. His death was hastened by gassing he endured at Vimy. Samuel passed away on October 10, 1945 in Prince Albert and was buried in Big River where he had resided. HERRIOTT, Thompson “Tom” WWII Tom was born in 1922 in Findlater, SK. He enlisted with the Army during the war and served with the Duke of Connaughtʼs Own in Canada, England and Germany. He was taken as a Prisoner of War in Germany in March of 1945 and was released in April of 1945. Tom passed away in 2006. The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 137
