HARTNETT, John H. WWII John was born in January of 1922 in Saskatoon, SK. He enlisted with the 13th Field Regiment, 8th R.E.C.C.E., 2nd Division. He served in Canada, England, and Europe. John has been a member of the Big River Branch # 136 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 41 years. HAUBERG, Arthur John WWII Arthur was born on March 7, 1920 in Glenside, SK. He joined the Army in June of 1941 and was sent to England in the Spring of 1942 from there he was posted to Italy and served with the 5th Division, Army Service Corps in England, France, Italy, Belgium, and Holland. As a driver, he transported dignitaries to Wageningen, Holland, where the Germans signed the surrender on May 5th, 1945. Arthur has been a member of The Royal Canadian Legion for 48 years. HAUGEN, William Loren WWII Bill was born in 1920 in Strongfield, SK. He was a Private in the Service Corps and worked as a Driver Mechanic and was in charge of packet of six trucks. Bill lost his only brother; Willard in 1943.Willard was a rear gunner in the Air Force and was shot down over Flensburg, Germany. Bill married in England and had two children there. He returned to Canada after the war where he had five more children. He served in Italy, Holland, and England. Bill passed away in 1998 in Pierceland at the age of 78. HAWES, Bruce WWII Bruce enlisted R.C.A.M.C. on April 30, 1945. He served in Canada until his discharge on October 2, 1945. He re-enlisted with the Army and served until his retirement. He moved to BC where Bruce later passed away. HAWES, Fred WWII Fred enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 11, 1941. He served as a Mechanic in Canada and Alaska until his discharge on November 1, 1945. He had married before the war and was an elevator agent before he took up a homestead. Fred is deceased.
