He served in Canada and England before his discharge. Joe has been a member of the Big River Legion Branch for 37 years. GILBERT, Richard Hargraves Korean War Richard was born in 1928 in Blaine Lake, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force as Leading Aircraftman, Fireman Group 3 RCAF He was stationed at Portage LaPrairie, Alderhot and Saskatoon. He served as a firefighter in Canada and England. Richard passed away in 1997. GILMER, Gawen Burton WWII Burton was born on December 20, 1923 in Tompkins, SK. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Artillery on August 13, 1943 and was discharged on January 20, 1945 having been stationed in Regina and Saskatoon, SK and Brandon, Manitoba. He served in Canada until his discharge on January 20, 1945.After being discharged from the army, Burton had a variety of occupations—farm worker, trucker, mechanic and construction worker. Burton succumbed to cancer on July 20, 2007. GILMOUR, Emily WWII Emily was born in 1915 in Chaplin, SK. She enlisted with the Canadian Women Army Corps on September 1, 1942. The family moved to the Moosedale area in 1931. She served with the Administration Unit in Canada and Occupational Duties in England until her discharge on March 6, 1946. After the war she worked in Edmonton and retired to Calgary, AB. GIROUX, Arthur Claude WWII Arthur was born in 1916 in Dumus, SK. He joined the reserve Army 101st Regiment in August of 1940 and entered active duty on January 21, 1942. He served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe before his discharge on June 5, 1945.
