GAYTON, Ernest Edwin WWI Ernest was born in 1876 in Montreal, Quebec. He joined the Royal Canadian Artillery, 37th Battery, as a Gunner. He served in France and Belgium during WWI. Ernest passed away in 1961. (GAYTON nee) SHURGOT, Rhoda Margaret WWII Rhoda was born in 1926 in Porteeve, SK. She enlisted with the Canadian Womenʼs Army Corps during the Second World War. She served in Canada until her discharge. Rhoda is a member of the Foam Lake Legion. GAYTON, William Arthur WWI William was born in 1886 in Manitou, MB. He enlisted with Infantry, Saskatchewan Command 28th, Battalion as a Scout. He served in France and fought at Vimy where he was wounded in battle in June of 1918. He was reported missing to his parents and was taken by the French RC to France. He was later transferred to London, England where received his commission while in hospital. William passed away in 1988. GELOWITZ, Matthias WWII Matt was born on March 28, 1915 in Grayson, SK. He served with the South Saskatchewan Regiment as a Lance Corporal. During active duty in France he was injured and then again in Germany. His decorations include medals, mentions and commendations. The 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer service Medal & Clasp , and the Dutch Medal of Remembrance. Matt dies too early on April 16th, 1974 in Cold Lake, Alberta at the age of 59.in Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe. Matt passed away on April 16, 1974. GILBERT, Cuthbert WWII Cuthbert was born in Big River, SK. He joined the 74th Field Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery during WWII. He served in England, Canada, and Europe until his discharge.
