109 www.rnca.ca Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Association Law Enforcement Torch Run Shamrock Showdown 1st RNC Police Venturer Group The Newfoundland and Labrador Law Enforcement Torch Run raises funds and awareness for Special Olympics NL through community events and fundraisers in our province. Since 1989, the Newfoundland and Labrador Law Enforcement Torch Run has raised over One Million Dollars for Special Olympics Newfoundland & Labrador. The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Association is very proud to support their work in our community. (Pictured: RNC Association President Mike Summers presents a cheque to members of the Special Olympics NL and Law Enforcement Torch Run Organizations) The Shamrock Showdown Hockey Tournament brings together members of uniformed services in Newfoundland and Labrador for a friendly charity hockey tournament in aid of deserving local organizations. The tournament is typically held each year during St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Funds from this year’s tournament were donated to the Newfoundland and Labrador Division of the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA-NL). RNC Association 2nd Vice President, Jordan McEntegart, is pictured presenting a $500.00 cheque to the CMHA-NL on behalf of RNC Association members. The 1st RNC Police Venturer Group is a partnership between Scouts Canada and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. This Scouts Canada Venturers Group will provide youth with an opportunity to learn about the role of the RNC within our community, discover a potential career in law enforcement, get more involved in the community, participate in training and development sessions, and explore the six areas of the Scouts Canada program. RNC Association 1st Vice President Nick Cashinpresented the 1st RNC Police Venturer Group with a donation of $500.00 for the purchase of camping and other adventure equipment.
