105 www.rnca.ca Memorial on Parade Commemorative Parkette On Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 11.00 a.m., the Memorial on Parade Commemorative project committee unveiled a Memorial Parkette in front of the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Memorial Campus (once known as the Memorial building on Parade Street). The Memorial on Parade Commemorative Parkette honours the three institutions which have occupied the building since it was opened in 1924; namely, the Memorial University College (and Memorial University since 1949); the College of Fisheries, from 1964-1985 and the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary, the present day occupants. The Memorial on Parade Commemorative Parkette honors the fact that Memorial obtained its name from those who died in WWI, WWII and in other conflicts since. To honour that fact, a plaque was mounted at the entrance to coincide with the re-opening of the RNC Memorial Campus in September, 2015. On September 20, 2017, a caribou head, set in granite and the words, “Lest We Forget”, was unveiled within the Parkette. DARE Graduation in Labrador City The Grade 6 students at J. R.
