PEUC-22

5 www.peicrimestoppers.com On behalf of Kensington Police Service, I would like to commend Don Rodd as well as the executive and board members for another successful year with PEI Crime Stoppers. Over the past couple of years, we have noted that more and more citizens are using Crime Stoppers to get tips to law enforcement regarding impaired drivers and drug related offences. This information helps police to carry out investigations and often leads to the arrest of persons involved in criminal activity. PEI Crime Stoppers continues to be a major asset to the policing community on PEI. Numerous arrests are made annually, suspects identified, drugs seized and property recovered as a result of tips contributed by the public. This leads to our Island communities being safer places to work and live. In conclusion, we encourage Islanders to continue using this service as it is a very valuable tool to assisting police agencies to solve crimes. Remember—Crime Stoppers wants your information, not your name! And you will note that there are now 3 ways to provide your tips which include telephone, online and the crime stoppers app. Chief Lewie Sutherland Kensington Police Service Report anonymously via our Mobile App, see peicrimestoppers.com for free download PEI Crime Stoppers provides an important service that helps members of the public who have information about a crime to share that information with police, confident in their anonymity and free from fear of retribution. They create an awareness of crime and foster a willingness in the community to fight back. The organization is a great example of people supporting each other as police can’t do their job without the support of their community. This type of program can only operate successfully with a team of dedicated, hard-working people and we are proud to work with the Volunteer Board and the Program Coordinator, Don Rodd. The positive impact that Crime Stoppers has within our community is clear to everyone involved. On behalf of Charlottetown Police Services, I congratulate the PEI Crime Stoppers organization on their 34th year of operation and for producing their 23rd Annual Awareness Guide, and Charlottetown Police Services thank you for helping keep our Island communities safe and strong. Brad MacConnell Chief of Police Charlottetown Police Services I would like to take this opportunity to both thank and congratulate PEI Crime Stoppers for their outstanding efforts in working hand in hand with PEI law enforcement agencies to make our island and its communities safer. The topic for this year's guide is anti-bullying. Bullying has a significant impact on its victims that can be life altering and ever-lasting. In today's technologically advanced world, and the now everyday use of social media and text messaging, victims of bullying can often feel like there is no escape or relief from their harassers. It is so very important that we as law enforcement agencies continue to get the message out that this kind of behavior is unacceptable. In addition to enforcement actions, we must also continue to work with our partner agencies to support victims of bullying and help them through what can be the most difficult and trying times in their lives. Summerside Police Services are committed to continuing our awareness and educational campaigns in this regard. In closing, I would like to thank Crime Stoppers for shining a light on this very important topic and thank them again for their tireless dedication to the people of province of Prince Edward Island. Respectfully, Chief Sinclair G Walker Summerside Police Services
