5 www.peicrimestoppers.com As Commanding Officer of the RCMP on Prince Edward Island, I have a deep appreciation for the work done by PEI Crime Stoppers. Prince Edward Island is uniquely positioned as the safest province in Canada. Part of the reason for that success is PEI Crime Stoppers and the people of PEI who contribute information to fight crime. Our Island policing family work hard to deter crime and keep Islanders safe. But, obviously we cannot be everywhere all of the time. That means we rely on the information provided by caring Islanders to inform us of trouble so we can attend. Crime Stoppers anonymous tips submission method allows the public to assist police with the work they do and quite often it’s the anonymous tip that helps to solve a crime. This Annual Awareness Guide, which provides readers with an overview of the excellent work undertaken by the hardworking and dedicated Board members, many community contributors who work diligently on a volunteer basis and especially Mr. Don Rodd, Provincial Coordinator. Supporters of this program work hard to continually fund raise, promote, educate, and develop public awareness to further the efforts of policing and community safety. Their work is key to engaging people to help keep our Island safe and to work together to curtail criminal activity. I commend PEI Crime Stoppers for the work they do for the people of Prince Edward Island and the policing and legal communities. We all have a part in keeping the communities across the Island safe and stopping criminal activity before harm can be done. Your voice can be a powerful tool and the tips provided to PEI Crime Stoppers have resulted in many convictions, proving that speaking up CAN make a difference. On behalf of the RCMP on Prince Edward Island, I would like to thank everyone involved in P.E.I. Crime Stoppers; and those who take the time to provide tips, thank you for your contribution to a safer Island. Chief Superintendent Jennifer Ebert Commanding Officer, L Division RCMP Prince Edward Island On behalf of the Kensington Police Service I would like to commend Don Rodd for a very successful year with PEI Crime Stoppers. PEI Crime Stoppers is a major asset to our Island. It has allowed for many crimes to be investigated and solved due to anonymous tips being supplied to law enforcement, which may not otherwise have been discovered. Our Island communities become safer each time your tips lead to drugs being taken off the streets, impaired drivers being caught, and criminals being charged and convicted. We encourage Islanders to continue providing tips to PEI Crime Stoppers whether by phone, electronically, etc., as this is a valuable tool that assists all PEI law enforcement to stop and solve crimes, and keep our communities safe. Remember, PEI Crime Stoppers wants your information not your name.
