He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 4, 1941 and was discharged on April 10, 1946. He served as a Private in Canada. McDONALD, Martin Lucas WWI Private Martin Lucas McDonald was born on August 2, 1895, in Nine Mile Creek. His parents were John Albert and Emily Jane (Betts) McDonald and his siblings: Sarah, Charles, Adelbert (Dell), George, Lemuel, Mary, Arthur, Albert, Arnold. Martin was living in Nine Mile Creek and working as a fisherman before enlisting. He enlisted with the 1st Depot Battalion (Nova Scotia Regiment) in Charlottetown on March 24, 1918. He was 23 years old. Private McDonald was wounded while serving overseas. After the war, Private McDonald purchased the Dickieson Farm in New Dominion. He married Catherine Gillis (Boston) and they had one son, Sheldon. Martin is deceased. McDONALD, Givin WWI Private Givin McDonald was born on September 21, 1895, in Nine Mile Creek to parents Malcolm and Letitia (McDougall) McDonald. His siblings were Margaret, Bertha, Hugh, Julia, Helen, Robert, Charlotte, Florence. Givin McDonald was already active in the 82nd Regiment Militia when he enlisted. He also worked as a butcher. Givin volunteered with the 105th Overseas Battalion on October 29, 1915, in Charlottetown. He was nineteen years old. After the war, Givin married twice. His first wife was Elsie Campbell. After her death, he then married Jessie Henley (1912-1976). They settled on a farm in Rice Point where they raised seven children: Florence (Teeter), Ferne (Chesney), Iris (Pryde), Donald, Margaret (Smith), Jack and Ann (Noble). Private McDonald passed away on December 16, 1974.
