VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 18 / 105 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND WEATHERBIE, William “Buddy” WWII Buddy was born in Charlottetown, PEI, in 1928. He was with the Royal Regiment of Canada. In 1945, he had been injured and was scheduled to be repatriated back to Canada after discharge from hospital in England. He refused to leave his unit, so he went back and was killed two weeks later in Germany at the age of eighteen. He is buried at the Canadian War Cemetery in Groesbeek, The Netherlands. TUPLIN, Joseph WWI & WWII Joseph was born in Summerside, PEI in 1890. He served during World War I with the Canadian Army 105th Battalion in France from 1916 to 1919. During World War II, he served with No. 19 COY Veterans Guard from 1943 to 1945. Joseph is deceased. His medals and decorations include the MM, General Service Medal and Victory Medal. TUPLIN, Charles Borden “Charlie” WWII Charlie was born on March 13, 1910, in Indian River, the son of William and Minnie Tuplin. In 1939, he enlisted with the PEI Highlanders. He was then an instructor with the PEI Light Horse Regiment at Canadian Army (Basic) Training Centre #62 in Charlottetown. In 1944, he served overseas in the United Kingdom and France and in October 1944, transferred to the Black Watch Regiment. On December 7, 1944, he was wounded near Mock and picked up by the Germans but died the next day. He is buried in the Canadian War Cemetery in Holten, The Netherlands.
