VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 18 / 99 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND STEWART, Henry Warburton WWI Henry was born in Strathgartney, PEI in 1884. A civil engineer before World War I, Stewart served in the trenches of France for two years before leaving the Canadian Army for a commission as lieutenant in the Imperial Army’s 77th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery. He was sent to Germany as part of the post occupation forces and died of pneumonia on February 11, 1919, in Bonn. He is buried in Cologne Southern Cemetery in the Südfriedhof Cemetery in Cologne, Germany. STEWART, Charles “Russell” WWII Charles was born in Bloomfield District, the son of James and Margaret (Mountain) Stewart. He enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1941 and was discharged on January 16, 1946. He served as a Corporal in the #8 Recce in Canada, England, France and Germany. STEVENS (PERRY), Doris Anne WWII Doris was born in Alberton District, the daughter of Joseph Sylvere and Kathleen (Hunt) Perry. She enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1942 and was discharged on June 27, 1945. She served as a Sergeant in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada.
