VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 17 / 93 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND WHITE, Robert Edgar WWI Robert was born in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island on September 29, 1975. In his early age he travelled to Alberta for work where he made the decision to volunteer for active service. He enlisted on April 12, 1916 at the age of 41. He signed with the 202nd O. Battalion CEF, following basic and infantry training he was shipped overseas. He saw action at Ypres where Robert was killed in action on October 30, 1917, while serving with the Canadian Infantry 49th Battalion. He was 42 years old. Robert is buried at the Menin Gate (Ypres) Memorial, Belgium. WELLS, Wilson Melvin WWII Wilson was born in Alberton District, son of John Alfred and Elizabeth (Jones) Wells. He enlisted in the Army on May 13, 1943 and was discharged on June 16, 1943. He served as a Private in Canada. WALLACE, Merrill Elmer WWII Merrill was born in the Alberton District, son of Elmer and Mildred (Rennie) Wallace. He enlisted in the Army on February 25, 1944 and was discharged on July 24, 1946. He served as a Private in Engineers in Canada, England, France, and Germany.
