VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 17 / 77 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND McNEILL, Everett Joseph WWII Everett was born in the Alberton District, son of Linus/Tinus and Angelina (Gallant) McNeill. He enlisted in the Army on May 19, 1942 and was killed in action on August 2, 1944. He served as a Private in the Lincoln and Welland Regiment RCIC in Western Europe. McKENNA, F. Everett WWII Everett was born in Summerside, Prince Edward Island in 1936. He served for three years in the Army with the RHR II RCA in Canada. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Borden-Carleton Branch 10. Everett passed away in 2002. McDONALD, Victor J. WWI Victor was born in Cornwall, Prince Edward Island on October 20, 1895 to George and Isabel (Leonard) McDonald. Victor was a farmer prior to the enlisting on December 15, 1915 in Charlottetown, PEI with the 105th Overseas Battalion at the age of twenty. Victor served in the Army with the Canadian Infantry 26th Battalion New Brunswick Regiment, in England, France, and Belgium. Exposed to gas released by the enemy, he came home an invalid and spent the reminder of his life in the Veterans Hospital in Kentville, Nova Scotia. Shortly after the war ended, Victor succumbed to the disabling effects of gas and passed away on January 6, 1920 at the age of 24. His parents, as well as his siblings, George and Louis, survived him. Victor wrote letters to his brother Leo during his time overseas and in the hospital. Twelve of these letters have been preserved called The Victor McDonald Collection.
