He was employed as a clerk by R.T. Holman & Co. before the World War I. He served in England and France as a musketry inspector, but he wanted to get to the front. On April 21, 1918, he was instantly killed in action by an enemy shell explosion in the trenches near Mercatel, France during the Second Battle of the Somme. He is buried in Bellacourt Military Cemetery in Riviere, France. DALTON, John Emanuel “Jack” WWII John was born in Bloomfield District, son of Ambrose and Mary Ann (Reilly) Dalton. He enlisted in the Army on April 22, 1943 and was discharged on April 24, 1946. He served as a Private in the Canadian Medical Corps in England. DALTON, Howard Prosper WWII Howard was born in Bloomfield District, son of Wilfred and Eva (Coughlin) Dalton. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943 and was discharged in 1945. He served as a Leading Aircraftsman in Canada and Newfoundland.
