VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 16 / 57 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND NICHOLSON, John Ivan “Hickey” WWII John was born in Alberton District, son of William and Ellen Edith (Harper) Nicholson. He enlisted in the Army on October 20, 1940 and was discharged on February 23, 1946. He served as a Major in the Regina Rifle Regiment and PEI Highlanders in Canada, NL, England and North West Europe. MILLAR, Terris WWII Terris was born in Meadow Bank, Prince Edward Island to parents Mr. and Mrs. John Millar in 1919 following his parents and family immigrating to the Island from Scotland. Terris was raised on the family farm until the enrolling in the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1939. He made his way to England shortly after completion of all training. Terris was shot down over Belgium on the August 17, 1942, when he was just 23 years old. McKENNA, Alfred WWII Alfred was born in Bloomfield District, son of John and Mary Ann (MacDonald) McKenna. He enlisted in the Army on February 1, 1941 and was discharged on April 24, 1942. He served as a Private in the Veterans Guard #6 A Coy in Canada.
