Military Service Recognition Book – Volume 15 / 75 The Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Island Command WATTS, George A. PEACETIME George was born in Hampshire, PEI in 1932. He signed up in Charlottetown and enlisted on July 18, 1951 in Halifax. He served as a gunner in the 27th Artillery Brigade, 79th Field Regiment and was honourably discharged on February 11, 1954 in Halifax. George served in Canada and in Germany where their home base camp was the infamous Bergen-Belsen concentration death camp. George completed the bombardier NCO course in Hanover, Germany and trained on the 105mm, 25 pounder and anti-tank guns. George was awarded the NATO Medal for his service. In all, six brothers served in the Canadian Armed Forces, three in Germany. George is an eight year member of the Legion Kingston Branch 30. WALLIS, Thomas Ewart “Tom” WWII & SPECIAL DUTY AREA Tom was born in Brentford, England in 1924. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force on June 17, 1948 with the 223 Squadron and served in Europe. Major Tom Wallis was honourably discharged on February 7, 1973. WALKER, Michael Felix WWI Michael was born in Launching, PEI on June 22, 1893. He enlisted in the Army with the 13th Battalion and served in France during World War I. Michael was killed in action on September 2, 1918 in France. He is buried at Upton Wood Cemetery, Hendecourt Les-Cagnicourt, Arras, France.
