He enlisted in the Army on September 3, 1943 and was discharged on March 6, 1946. He served as a Private in the Royal Canadian Signals Corps in Canada, Holland, England, France, Belgium, and Germany. McEWEN, Raymond WWII Raymond was born in Hope River, PEI on October 1, 1910. He enlisted in the Army with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps and served during World War II. He was killed in action on July 8, 1944 in Normandy, France. He is buried at Beny-Sur-Mer Canadian War Cemetery. His grandmother had them put this on his headstone in France: “Lonely, Dreary are the days since one we love went away. Lovingly remembered by his grandmother.” McDOUGALL, Leo Francis WWII Leo was born in Alberton, the son of Frank J. and Kathleen (Skerry) McDougall. He enlisted in the Army on July 10, 1940 and was discharged on March 28, 1946. He served as a Private in the WNSR PEI Highlanders in Canada, England, France, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
