Lest We Forget / 61 The Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Island Command MELLISH, Koven T. SPECIAL DUTY AREA/PEACETIME Koven was born in Pembroke, Ontario in 1995. He joined the Army 1 RCR Petawawa and serves in Canada. MELLISH, Frank Robert AFGHANISTAN Warrant Officer Frank Robert Mellish, son of Barry and Sandra (McNeil) Melish, joined the Royal Canadian Air Cadets at the age of 13 and rose through the ranks to become WO1 of 53 Squadron, and later received his commission with them before joining the regular forces in 1989. He married Kendra Stordy and they had two sons, Matthew and Koven. Frank’s passion was the military and he excelled at every stage of his career. Tragically, he and three other Canadian soldiers were killed in Afghanistan’s volatile Panjwaii district on September 3, 2006. Frank rests peacefully at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Valley, PEI. MEADER, Richard James PEACETIME Richard was born in London, England in 1935. He enlisted in the Royal Air Force and served in England and Canada.
