Lest We Forget / 5 ACORN, Alvin Lawson WWII Alvin was born on August 1, 1914 in West Devon, Prince Edward Island. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on March 13, 1941 and served on HMCS Grou as a Stoker. Petty Officer Acorn escorted convoys in the North Atlantic and served on D-Day in the English Channel. He was discharged on September 18, 1945. Alvin passed away in 1995. ACORN, Nicholas “Nick” AFGHANISTAN Nick, born to Alan Alcorn and Alice Peters, grew up in Dundas, Prince Edward Island and attended high school in Montague. An Armed Forces member in both the Navy and Army, Nick did one tour of duty in Afghanistan. He presently lives in Alberta. ANDERSON, Chester R. WWI Chester was born on May 14, 1898 in Cable Head to Howard and Lillian (Leslie) Anderson. He enlisted in 1917 and served in the 5th Siege Battery of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in Prince Edward Island. After his discharge in 1919, Private Anderson married and moved to Florida where he lived until his death on January 14, 1963. Chester is buried there.
