Lest We Forget / 33 HOLLAND, Thomas Vincent WWI Thomas was born on January 22, 1895 to Bernard (Berno) and Annie (nee Fay) Holland, of East Baltic. He joined the Canadian Infantry (New Brunswick Regiment), 26th Battalion, and served as a Private during World War I. His brother, Joseph Holland, also served in the Infantry in the same war but was with the Nova Scotia Regiment. Thomas died on August 27, 1918. HOLLAND, Thomas Vincent WWII Thomas was born on January 24, 1919 and was the son of Peter E. and Agatha (nee MacCormack) Holland and stepson of Katie (nee Beaton), of Souris, and later Charlottetown. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve and served on the minesweeper HMCS Guysborough in World War II. Thomas died on March 18, 1945. HOLLOWAY, W. J. “Kip” PEACETIME Kip was born in Portsmouth, England in 1933. He joined the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve during peacetime and served in Canada at HMCS Cornwallis, Naden, Star, York, Scotian and Shearwater and on the high seas on HMCS Stadacona, Haida, Lauzon and Crescent. He was awarded the Admiral’s Commendation for his work aboard HMCS Lauzon as well as the Queen’s Silver and Diamond Jubilee Medals and the Canadian Forces Decoration and Bar.
