Lest We Forget / 17 CURRAN, Robert James WWI Robert was born to James and Annie (Walsh) Curran in Farmington on December 22, 1892. He moved to the United States as a boy and later enlisted in the American services. After his return to civilian life, he made his home in San Diego, California. Robert died in May 1987 and was buried in San Diego. DAVISON, Russel Henry WWI Russel was born at St. Peter’s Harbour in 1891. He enlisted in the No. 8 Siege Battery of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1916 and went overseas from Halifax to Plymouth, England where he was stationed at Witley Camp, Surrey and Aldershot. Russel was a member of the 282nd Siege Battalion which was never breached. His Battalion advanced to confrontations in France at Vimy, Amiens and Arras. Sergeant Davison returned to civilian life after his discharge in 1919 and settled in Truro, Nova Scotia. He passed away in 1981 and is buried in Truro. DeCOSTE, J. P. “Jim” SPECIAL DUTY AREA & PEACETIME Jim was born in 1955 in Middleton, Nova Scotia. He joined the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, 2nd Battalion, and trained with the Rangers in the USA. He served as a Captain with the Paratroop Wings in Canada, the U.S.A., Germany (1991), Sinai Peninsula, Cyprus, and Medak Pocket in Croatia during three peacekeeping missions. Jim was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion in Gagetown, New Brunswick and Winnipeg, Manitoba for a number of years before he passed away in 1993.
