Lest We Forget / 61 MacLEAN, John Angus WWII Angus was born in Lewis, Prince Edward Island on May 15, 1914. He enlisted on September 8, 1939 with the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Halifax Bomber pilot in England and Holland. Angus was shot down in a bombing raid over Holland and escaped after six weeks in hiding with the help of the Dutch underground. He returned to Britain and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and was discharged on November 15, 1947. Angus passed away on February 15, 2000. MacNEILL, Robert WWII Cpl. Robert MacNeill, son of James MacNeill and Celina Perry, enlisted in the PEI Light Horse Regiment in February 1943. Overseas, he was taken on strength by a Hussars Tank Regiment which saw action in Italy. He was discharged in September 1945. The Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Island Command MacLEOD, Carleton E. Carleton was born in Iris, Prince Edward Island and joined the Royal Canadian Navy.
