Lest We Forget / 51 GALLANT, Léo KOREA Private Léo Gallant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aubin J. Gallant, enlisted in the army on July 25, 1950 with the Royal 22 Regiment and served in Korea for eighteen months. He also served in the Paratroopers before going to Korea, having seven parajumps to his credit. He was discharged from service on September 7, 1953 and received the Korean and United Nations Medals. HANDRAHAN, John Hubert WWII John was born in Ascension, Prince Edward Island on April 23, 1923 and enlisted in the Canadian Army on March 11, 1943. In July of 1943, he went overseas to England and served in France, Belgium, Netherlands (Leopold Canal) and Germany. He was discharged on February 7, 1946 and received the France-Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star, the Victory Medal, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. John passed away on July 13, 1989. HARRIS, Edward Basil WWII Edward was born in O’Leary, Prince Edward Island in 1924 and joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps 24th Field Ambulance serving in Europe and Italy. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. Edward was killed in action in Italy in 1944.
