Lest We Forget / 43 DESROCHES, Nazaire WWII Private Nazaire DesRoches, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvère DesRoches, enlisted in the army in March 1942 and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Sicily, Italy, Holland and Germany and was discharged in September 1945. DESROCHES, Paul John WWI Paul was born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island on June 29, 1888 to Francis and Monica DesRoches and grew up farming on Kildare Cape. He settled in Norwood, then Westwood, Massachusetts. At age twenty-nine, he enlisted on November 1, 1917 in the Air Service of the United States Army. He trained and was promoted to Sergeant at Love Field, Dallas, Texas. He served with the AEF in England at Aircraft Acceptance Park 1 and in France. He was discharged on December 14, 1918 and was an honorary member of the American Legion and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. Paul passed away on New Year’s Day 1984 at age ninety-five. DUTNEY, Lottie WWII Lottie was born in Murray River, Prince Edward Island in December 1941 and enlisted with the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942 and was discharged in 1945.
