Lest We Forget / 59 PYke, alfred arthur WWII Alfred was born to Addison Pyke and Ruth Cobb in 1918 in Milburn, PEI. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 but his career was short due to ill health. He was discharged that same year and became a bus driver for Island Motor Transport. While on route to work on October 31, 1944, he was involved in a car accident which claimed his life. Alfred is buried in Marie Cemetery. POIRIeR, Beloni WWII Beloni was born in Tignish, PEI on April 4, 1916. He joined the Army and served as a Lance Corporal in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe during World War II. He was discharged in June 1946. Beloni was a member of the Tignish Legion Branch # 6. He died in 2000. PROFIT, carl augustin WWII Carl was born on April 13, 1916. He was Chief Petty Officer in the Royal Canadian Naval Volunteer Reserve in Halifax and was released in 1945. He married Janie Harper and they had a family of twelve children. Carl passed away on September 18, 1968. PYke, Vernon addison WWII Vernon was born to Addison Pyke and Ruth Cobb on December 12, 1920 in Milburn, Prince Edward Island. He enlisted in January 1943 with the PEI Light Infantry and served as a Private in Canada, Belgium, Scotland, England, France, Holland and Germany during World War II. He was discharged in April 1946. QuIgleY, John H. WWII John was born in the Alberton district of Prince Edward Island. He served as a Gunner in the Royal Canadian Artillery and was killed in action in France on August 8, 1944. John is buried in Bretteville-surLaize Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France.
