Lest We Forget / 33 laRkIN, Philip D. WWII Philip was born on Fortune Road, PEI to John Larkin and Emma Phalen on September 4, 1917. He enlisted in the Army on April 4, 1941 and served as a Trooper with the PEI Light Horse Infantry and the 1st Canadian Armoured Brigade. He served in England and was also a dispatch rider in France and Germany. Philip was discharged on December 6, 1945. laRkIN (BuRROugHs), edith WWII Edith was born to Wilfred Larkin and Henrietta O'Brien on April 10, 1923. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on June 18, 1942 and advanced to the rank of Corporal. She took her basic training in Rockcliffe, Ontario then was posted at Mont-Joli, St. Hubert and # 1 Wireless School in Montreal. Edith graduated as a Wireless Operator with her certificate for 25wpm, and was sent to Halifax for the duration of service. Edith received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. After her discharge on October 2, 1945, Edith married and is now Mrs. Burroughs. She lives in Eaglesham, Alberta. laRkIN (MOORe), Matilda WWII Matilda was born on Fortune Road, PEI to Wilfred Larkin and Henrietta O'Brien on February 1, 1922. She enlisted in the Army as a Private on June 29, 1942 and served in Borden, England as a cook in the Officers' Mess where the usual fare was Australian mutton. To this day, Matilda won't eat mutton. She was discharged on November 24, 1945. leaRD, William godfrey WWII William was born to Russel Leard and Clara Lockerby in the Bloomfield district of Prince Edward Island. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in August 1942 and served as a Leading Aircraftsman in Labrador. He was killed in action on July 6, 1944. lelacHeuR, Malcolm WWII Malcolm was born in Murray Harbour, Prince Edward Island. During World War II, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force.
