He enlisted with the US Air Force in 1942 and then transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force, serving in England and Germany. James' plane was shot down over Germany and he was taken prisoner for 70 days. James was Staff Sergeant when he was discharged in 1945. BucHaNaN, Vincent WWII Vincent was born in Glen William, Prince Edward Island. During World War II, he served in the Royal Canadian Navy. Vincent has passed away. BuRNs, James J. WWII James was born in the United States on September 25, 1914 to Harry Burns and Florence Wilson. He was raised in Southampton, attended Saint Dunstan's University, and later returned to the US. James joined the US Air Force in 1942 and was sent overseas where he served as a Sergeant. A welder by trade, he returned to the US after his discharge in 1945. He married Susan Johnston and now lives in Long Beach, California. claRk, John keir WWII John was born in the Alberton district of Prince Edward Island. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on September 3, 1943 and served in Canada as an Air Gunner. John was discharged on February 14, 1945. clOW, edwin Thomas WWII Edwin was born in Summerside, PEI on September 3, 1922. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 27, 1941 and served as a Wireless Air Gunner in Canada, England, Scotland, Ireland, Gibraltar and The Azores. His 269 Squadron patrolled the oceans looking for German U-boats and antishipping boats and also looked for survivors from downed aircraft. He was honourably discharged on August 30, 1945. Edwin received the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the Victory Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Tour of Operations Medal and the Air Crew of Europe Medal.
