Lest We Forget / 35 dOYlE, louis anthony wwII Louis was born on April 9, 1925 in Charlottetown, PEI, the son of Edward and Ethel (Lund) Doyle and joined the Navy in 1940. After his basic training he was drafted to the H.M.C.S. Assiniboine as a Stoker. In 1941, he joined the Army and worked in a Reinforcement Company in England and became part of the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and served in France, Germany, Holland and Belgium. Louis also served in the Support Company, Carrier Platoon and was a Bren Gun Carrier Operator and saw action on D-Day and in 1946 he returned to Canada for his discharge. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. Louis is a Life Member of Branch #1 of The Royal Canadian Legion. dOUCETTE, Joseph Clovis wwII Joseph was born to Marguerite (nee Gauthier) and Philias Doucette on October 11, 1915 and enlisted in the Air Force in 1944 as an aircraftsman and was discharged on February 5, 1946. He passed away on January 5, 2003. dOUCETTE, Roy Ernest wwII Roy was born in Skinner’s Pond to Eleanor and George Doucette on May 19, 1917 and enlisted as a Gunner in the Army on November 19, 1942 and was discharged on November 14, 1945. He passed away on May 11, 1992. dUNBaR, Eric wwII Eric, son of Lloyd M. and Bertha (Hardy) Dunbar, was born in Montrose, PEI and joined the Navy, serving in Canada, the UK and the North Atlantic on the HMCS Brunswicker from August 7, 1941 to October 10, 1945 and received the 1939-1945 Star. dUNBaR, george lloyd wwII George, son of Lloyd M. and Bertha (Hardy) Dunbar was born in Montrose, PEI and joined the Navy serving in the North Atlantic and the English Channel on the HMCS Assiniboine from December 9, 1941 to September 12, 1945 and received the France/Germany Star, the 1939-1945 Star & Clasp, the George V Medal, the Jubilee Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp and the Atlantic Star & Clasp.
