Lest We Forget / 67 WEEKS, Melville Herbert WWII Melvil le was born on May 26, 1913 in Fredericton, PEI. He joined the Air Force in October 1939 in Charlottetown and served in Defoe, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland, Summerside, Greenwood, NS. He was discharged in January 1946. WARD, James W. “Jim” WWII Jim joined the Royal Canadian Navy in Regina in 1941. He served on the Aircraft Carriers, Warrior, Magnificent and Bonaventure as Chief Petty Officer, Photographic Section. Jim served unti l 1965 and moved to PEI in the 1970ʼs. WEDLOCK, Daniel A. WWI Daniel was born on September 28, 1871, the son of John and Mary (Lamont) Wedlock of Stanley Bridge, PEI. He served with the 105th Battal ion and the 2nd Siege Battery. These troops remained in Germany as security forces after World War One ended. After returning to Stanley Bridge, he decided to join his brother in Charlottetown in the automobile business. It is said that he was the first person to drive a car from Charlottetown to Cavendish, PEI. WILSON, Daryle Joseph WWII Daryle was born on May 26, 1920 in Southhampton, PEI and enl isted on September 7, 1939 as a Corporal with the PEI Highlanders and the North Nova Scotia Highlanders. Daryle served in Ireland, England, France, Belgium, Hol land & Germany. He received his discharge on September 11, 1945. Daryle passed away on February 26, 1988. YOUNG, John Michael WWII John was born in The Brae, PEI. He enl isted on June 10, 1942 and trained, worked and taught motor mechanics in Montreal unti l he was discharged on February 9, 1946.
