Lest We Forget / 51 In 1944 Veterans in the Borden, PEI area formed the BESL in a building that was used for the Borden Scouts. The first President was Harry Patterson. In January 1945 we received our charter for The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10. The building burned down in the spring of 1952. During the next three years meetings were held in members homes, each taking their turn monthly. In May 1955 we moved into our new Legion Home. In 1968 we added a wing to the building and in 1990 we completely renovated the downstairs. As of March 2003 we have 118 members. The Ladies Auxiliary was formed in 1955 with Mary Sutherland acting as the first President. The Auxiliary was very active until 1998 when due to a very small membership they folded. Each year on November 11 we hold a Remembrance Service at our Branch cenotaph as well as an afternoon service in Kinkora, PEI.
