Lest We Forget / 9 PEI Command of The Royal Canadian Legion obtained its charter on 16 June 1926 with the following charter members: Comrade George P. Nicholson Comrade W. P. Bruce, D.C.M Captain Isador E. Croden Comrade Arthur G. Bruce Comrade P. Sidney Fielding Comrade Chas. H. Hine Lt. Col. Henry D. Johnston Major T. Edgar MacNutt Lieut. Philip E. Palmer Comrade George L.M. Larter Comrade H. Francis MacPhee Comrade J. Alexander Williams Comrade Philip Noonan M.M. Comrade Francis Tierney Comrade Percy D. Crosby Comrade James E. Harris There have been 35 branches who have received their charters since 1926. Currently there are 19 branches served by PEI Command. PEI Command through funds raised through our Veteran’s Memorial Charity Fund has been a major contributor to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, as well as all of the other hospitals on PEI. PEI Command has donated $326,960.00 to The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and $185,000.00 to the other smaller hospitals in the past two decades for a total donation in excess of $500,000.00. In addition, all Legion branches on PEI have made significant donations to hospitals across the Island on a regular basis.
