They take an Oath to “SERVE AND PROTECT” Not knowing, will this call, be the last or next They’re given a badge, a gun and cuffs Yet many will say, they hate to be rough. They work nights, shift work and holidays too Not for recognition, it’s what they are paid to do They deal with gun calls, domestics, and a child’s cry But for most, it’s routine patrol and a way to stay dry. Then, disaster can strike and our friend is gone Called up to Heaven, to be God’s Blue One! On the streets, some say, forget them never For in our Heart, they will Live Forever! So, next time you see, these cops in blue Know they make it safe, for me and for you Don’ t feel afraid, of their color, size or rank Just walk up and smile, as your way to say thanks!
