He enlisted in the Canadian Army on October 4, 1940 and served with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Highlanders during World War II. Corporal Carrière was discharged on July 16, 1945. Sylvio passed away on June 2, 2005. CATTO, John A. John was born on October 24, 1917, in Tiverton, Ontario. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on February 8, 1943 and served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged in March 1946 and was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tiverton Ferris Branch 430 and Kincardine Branch 183. John passed away on June 1, 1995. CARTER, Frederick Henry Frederick was born on April 15, 1883, in London, England to father Samuel George. Prior to World War I, he is listed as a farmer in England, immigrated to New Hamburg, Ontario in 1910 and employed as a baker. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in World War I in Toronto on January 11, 1916 with the 124th Battalion. He sailed from Canada and arrived in England onAugust 18, 1916. From there, he went to France on March 9, 1917. He served in France with the 4th Pontoon & Bridging Co. Frederick was granted a Good Conduct Badge on January 11, 1918 and was hospitalized for stomach pains on January 15, 1918. He was discharged back to duty, however the pains continued, and he was hospitalized again and determined he had a hernia. He was sent back to light duty and was granted a fourteen-day leave to the United Kingdom on March 2, 1918. Frederick was taken to Bramshott for a hernia operation on May 21, 1919 and was discharged from the hospital on July 4, 1919. He sailed from Glasgow to Canada on July 25, 1919 and arrived in Montreal on August 8, 1919. He was discharged in Toronto on August 7, 1919.
