7 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND A MESSAGE FROMTHE CHAIR RON GOEBEL Welcome to Volume X1 of our annual Military Service Recognition Book. This book of Remembrance is a living testament of the courage, sacrifice and commitment that has been given to our country by the Veterans that we showcase in our various books of Remembrance. We thank them and all Veterans for their service in order that we may enjoy the freedoms that we so freely enjoy today. To date, we have published more than 7,200 Ontario Veteran biographies and photographs in our various volumes. And we thank them and their families for allowing us to publish their stories and photographs. In this, our Volume X1 book, we have captured the stories and photographs of 467 various Veterans. Thanks to the terrific advertising support that we have received over these past eleven years, as well as very generous individual donations received, our Command has now surpassed two million dollars in revenue during this time. We truly appreciate all of the support that we have received as it allows us to support several Veteran Transition Programs that assist Veterans into a civilian life. We continue to promote our important program by askingVeterans or family members of aVeteran, to please take the time to submit a submission form and photograph to your local Legion Branch for publication into one of our books of Remembrance. With approximately 225,000 Veterans living within the Province of Ontario, and many, many more Veterans who unfortunately have passed away, there are still many Veterans and family members of Veterans within the Province of Ontario that could have aVeterans bio and photograph published in one of our books. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Branches within our Command who have worked diligently in providingVeteran submissions for our books over the past eleven years.Your dedication, support, and cooperation towards the success of this very important program is certainly appreciated. I ask that you continue to keep up the good work. Special thanks to our two Provincial Coordinators Carolyn McCaul and Rae Ann Bauman, our District Coordinators, District Commanders, Zone Commanders, the staff at Ontario Command, our Provincial President, members of our Ladies’ Auxiliary, and all of my fellow Senior Elected Officers of Ontario Command. It is only through everyone’s continued efforts that we will continue to be successful in telling the story about our Veterans, both past and present, in communities across this great Province of ours. We will Remember them!
