391 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WRAY, Clarence Stanley Clarence was born in Moncton, New Brunswick on May 13, 1957. He enlisted in March 1975 and served in both the Navy and the Army on HMCS Saguenay and Canadian Forces Postal Unit. He served in Cyprus, Golan Heights and Sarajevo and was wounded on July 2, 1995 in Sarajevo, Bosnia. Clarence has been residing in St. Catharines since 1977. WRIGHT, John Whitney “Jack” Jack was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 18, 1921. He enlisted in the Air Force (Regular Force) in 1941 and did pilot training for World War II in Canada at No. 8 Service Flying Training School in Moncton, New Brunswick. He was discharged in 1945. Jack founded the North York Fire Department training division. In 1954, Jack went on to be Chief of the Fire Department. His World War II medals include the 1939-1945 Star, War Medal 1939-1945, Defence Medal and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Jack passed away on December 3, 1982. WRIGHT, Benjamin “Ben” Benjamin was born on March 9, 1894, in Wrentham, Suffolk, England. His father, George, was from England. Ben enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in Drumbo, Ontario on September 29, 1915 with the 71st Battalion O.S.B., Canadian Infantry. He arrived in England on November 30, 1915. He was not feeling well and on December 28, 1915, he was seriously ill at Moore Barracks Hospital in Shorncliffe. Benjamin died on December 29, 1915 due to meningitis cerebrospinal. He is buried at Shorncliffe Military Cemetery in Kent, United Kingdom. He is commemorated on page 42 of the First World War Book of Remembrance in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill in Ottawa.
