385 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WILSON, Lloyd Richard Lloyd Richard Wilson, and his twin sister Anna, were born on August 27, 1920, in Markdale, in Grey County. He followed two of his older brothers into the Canadian Army by enlisting on October 5, 1942, in Toronto. After basic military training in Peterborough, Ontario, he was stationed at Camp Borden, qualifying as a Class III driver of wheeled vehicles assigned to the 26th army tank regiment, disembarking in the United Kingdom on June 24, 1943. On August 11, 1943, he transferred to the 6th Armoured Regiment, 1st Hussars. His regiment arrived in Normandy on June 19, 1944 and in the following year was engaged in the Battle for the Rhineland as the Allies pushed into Germany. In late February, his unit with the 1st Hussars’ 6th Armoured Regiment was engaged in Operation Blockbuster on the Goch-Calcar Road in Germany. Military files record Trooper Wilson as being wounded on February 26, 1945. Trooper Wilson was treated for his injuries in a field hospital but died on March 2, 1945 in Uedem, Germany, after succumbing to fatal injuries from shrapnel. He was 24 years old. WING, Gregory Alfred “Greg” Gregory was born in Oshawa, Ontario on July 9, 1979. He joined the CAF with 2 Service Battalion in September 1998 after high school. Most of his career was spent in Petawawa with 2 CER as well as a posting to 22 Wing North Bay in Base Maintenance. Upon posting to 1RCR, he was deployed twice, once to Kabul on Roto 0 in 2003/2004, and then again to Kandahar on Roto 2 including Operation Medusa with Charles Coy. After medically releasing from the CAF with PTSD in September 2011, Greg lives with his wife and family in St. Thomas, Ontario and is greatly involved with Veterans and Everyday Heroes. WING, Christine Patricia Christine was born in Ottawa, Ontario on November 8, 1971. She enlisted with the 1st Air Defence Regiment Lanark and Renfrew Scottish as an Air Defence Gunner out of Pembroke, Ontario on June 28, 2000. Being the only Total Service force regiment at the time, she served and trained with her Regiment in Petawawa. Christine was released on June 4, 2004. She is a mother with four grown children and her husband, Greg Wing, is also a retired CAF member. They live in St. Thomas, Ontario.
