373 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND WATSON, Howard H. “Bud” Bud was born on July 12, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force on August 21, 1943 and served as FLT/SGT air gunner with 427 Lion’s Squadron based at Leaming,Yorkshire. Bud was discharged on January 23, 1946. Upon returning to Canada he served on the Toronto and Goderich Police Forces and later joined the Province of Ontario’s Department of Labour. Following his retirement, he started a new career as a jeweller. Bud was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Lindsay Branch 67 for eleven years before he passed away on January 23, 2014. WEAVER, Thomas Edwin “Ted” Ted was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on December 29, 1919. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on October 8, 1940 and was stationed in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Fingal, Ontario before serving overseas in England. Upon his honourable release on September 21, 1945, he was awarded the CanadianVolunteer Service Medal with Clasp. Ted and his wife Patricia settled in Essex where he worked for the New York Central Railroad as an assistant signal maintainer. He also worked for Essex Farmers Oil Sales as a clerk until his retirement. Ted and Patricia had four children and was a member of Captain Brien Legion Branch 201 for 37 years before he passed away on September 8, 1985. WATSON, Stanley Grant Stanley was born in Hastings County, Bancroft, Ontario on April 26, 1923. He enlisted in the Army (Regular Force) in Kingston, Ontario on January 25, 1943. He completed training in Petawawa, Ontario and qualified as Anti-Tank Gunner on August 8, 1943. He served with the 7th Anti Tank Regiment RCA until the end of the war on September 2, 1945. He landed at Juno Beach on June 6, 1944 and his home base was the African and Italian Camp and the Netherland Liberation. He served in Holland, France, Germany, and Italy. Stanley received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, War Medal 1939-1945, Italy Star, and France and Germany Star. After the war, he went back to his job as a lumberman in the bush north of Harcourt, Ontario. He married Muriel Tripp on April 17, 1948. Stanley went on to become a supervisor for General Motors of Oshawa. He was the father of six children and grandfather of thirteen. He moved to Port Perry in September 1967 where all three children went to high school. He retired in 1980. Stanley passed away on October 27, 2004.
